Facilities Maintenance Engineer
Position Summary
At UPLIFT Desk, we’re not just building ergonomic workstations—we’re shaping how people work and live. As the ecommerce industry leader in height-adjustable desks, we’ve grown by delivering innovative, customer-focused solutions that promote health, productivity, and well-being. Our success is rooted in our core values: Customer Obsession, Innovation, Accountability, and Results Oriented.
As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer at UPLIFT Desk, you will help maintain our facilities, equipment, vehicles, and leased properties. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys figuring out how things work and how to fix them. When something breaks, you’ll diagnose the problem, research solutions when needed, determine what parts or materials are required, and work to complete the repair using our internal resources whenever practical.
This role requires experience across multiple types of maintenance and repair work, along with the ability to learn and troubleshoot unfamiliar problems. You’ll also work directly with tenants in our leased spaces, coordinate maintenance responsibilities, prepare basic written agreements, track expenses and bills, and follow through on amounts owed. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of problems from identification through resolution rather than automatically relying on an outside contractor.
What You'll Bring
Strong hands-on experience troubleshooting and completing facility, equipment, mechanical, or general repairs.
Ability to diagnose unfamiliar problems, research solutions, identify needed parts and materials, and determine how to complete the repair.
Working knowledge across multiple maintenance areas such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, automotive, carpentry, or general building maintenance.
Ability to independently prioritize maintenance needs and follow problems through to completion.
Professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, tenants, vendors, and contractors.
Bonus Points For
Experience maintaining commercial buildings, warehouses, or multiple facilities.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, plumbing, electrical, vehicles, or mechanical equipment.
Experience working with commercial tenants or leased properties.
Experience sourcing parts and materials and comparing repair options and costs.
Experience preparing basic agreements, tracking expenses, invoicing, or collecting amounts owed.
What You’ll Do
Diagnose and repair facility, equipment, vehicle, and property issues using internal resources whenever practical.
Troubleshoot problems, research solutions, and determine the parts, tools, materials, and steps needed to complete repairs.
Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs across building, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, automotive, and other facility systems within the scope of the role.
Source and order parts, tools, and materials and work with other team members to complete repairs.
Determine when repairs can be completed internally and when licensed or specialized outside services are required.
Perform preventive maintenance and identify developing problems before they result in larger repairs or downtime.
Respond to maintenance needs across company facilities and leased spaces and follow each issue through resolution.
Communicate directly and professionally with tenants regarding repairs, access, responsibilities, costs, and timelines.
Prepare and maintain basic agreements, repair documentation, invoices, expense records, and other maintenance or property-related records.
Track tenant-related charges and bills and follow through on collection of amounts owed.

We value our environment:
We plant 5 new trees in U.S. National Forests for every solid wood desk sold. By partnering with the National Forest Foundation, we're able to plant tens of thousands of new trees each year
Solar powered operations: Our Austin facilities produce over a megawatt of electricity through roof-mounted solar panels on three large warehouses
We use sustainable materials in our products. Some examples are:
Bamboo Desktops, Drawers, & Motion Boards: The world's fastest-growing plant, Moso bamboo is a grass that grows as quickly as an inch an hour
Eco Curve Desktops: Eco Curve desktops use 100% recycled MDF and have the lowest carbon footprint in the industry due to not using edgebanding, backer boards, adhesives, or solvents
